The Imagination Library begins — a book a month, in her father's honor

You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.

What started in Sevier County, Tennessee, now spans the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Australia. By 2024, roughly 1 in 7 American children under five received a book each month from the program.

Did you know

A 2022 academic study noted that while the book collection showed racial diversity, disability and non-dominant gender identities were largely absent — a tension Dolly's public advocacy for all identities makes worth discussing honestly.
